Unable to get any sound from LayR when used IAA inside Cubasis?  The synth launches fine but no sound when keys are played.  I tried loading several patches but nothing worked.

Ok so I've done a bit of investigation, I'm not a Cubasis expert but I've just discovered this ...

If you connect a multi-port IAA app to a Cubasis MIDI track it does not let you select anything except the main output in the IAA app.

If you connect a multi-port IAA app to a Cubasis Audio track it does not show ALL the available output ports.

The problem you are experiencing is probably that in Cubasis you have connected one of LayR's audio outputs to an audio track in Cubasis but you have not yet set any Instruments in LayR to that same output.

SOLUTION/ANSWER:

Using the Instrument strip in LayR, change the output which says "Main" to the same number that you selected in Cubasis.

I think the technical problem is this :

In Cubasis, MIDI tracks are only connecting to auri ( au instrument ) units,

and Audio tracks are only connecting to aurg ( au generator ) units.

In LayR the Main Stereo Out is an auri ( au instrument )

Therefore there is no option in Cubasis to select LayR's Main Stereo Output as an input to an audio track.

LayR provides 8 separate audio outputs + 1 stereo mix output. The mix output is only usable on MIDI tracks in Cubasis.

This seems to be a peculiar limitation that the developers of Cubasis have imposed.

So I can not record audio in Cubasis?  Am I reading that correctly?

Only individual instruments being recorded is not a workable solution you do realize?

There is no restriction in LayR. You can have as many instruments per output channel as you like. This is not a restriction I'm imposing, it's the way Cubasis works. Use another host if it's not good enough? Or write a wish list to the developers of Cubasis and ask them to recognise AURI units on audio tracks like everyone else does. But like I said I'm not a Cubasis expert, maybe the option is somewhere I just didn't find it.

There's another option too: Audiobus. Using Audiobus you can route LayR's Main Stereo output to an audio track in Cubasis.
