With so many layer/instruments - support of multiple named (virtual destinations) via coreMidi would be good.

That way you could offer >16 midi channels which may expand the automation & control possible using remote/sequencer apps/sources.

Hey, I'm currently trying to find out how the arp section is handled.

I'd like to send on, say, four different midi channels (Fugue Machine midi out) to four LayR instruments with a different arpeggio dialed in on the respective arp track ch.1-4.

Noticed that when I change the keyboard's midi channel, and/or the arp section's midi ch. (top left), I'm getting different results regarding which outside sequencer channel determines which instrument gets played (also visible as colored notes on the kb).

Is this behavior dependent maybe on the max nr. of channels, or could someone explain the correct way to let all/every single channels/instruments be heard playing?

thx & congrats on the release,

crs

Ok.

Currently there is no MIDI output port from LayR ( v.1.0.2 ) to the outside world but  it is has been asked for a lot and so will added in an update fairly soon.

The Arp has one MIDI channel in and up to eight out.

The input comes from MIDI or the onscreen keyboard in the form of a chord or held notes.

To set the MIDI channel the onscreen keyboard is transmitting on, use the MIDI icon on the top left of the keyboard view.

To set the MIDI channel the arp is receiving, use the MIDI icon on the top left of the Arp page.

The output channels are set per lane in in the event sequencer by using the MIDI icon to right of the grid.

Channels from the Arp are sent to the current performance and so you need to set the instrument MIDI channels on their respective strips in the performance view.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for taking the time, Sir, and for the explanation!

I can understand now what's the matter, with the one midi channel receiving note events from another sequencer:

It is taking from every midi channel and feeds the instruments on their respective channels fine, however, if I engage the arp function, that is triggered only on the selected channel.

What I'd like to achieve is having every arp (set to be played on 1,2,3,4) also be triggered by the according incoming sequences (also on channels 1-4) - mainly for transposing, but also crazy experimentation ;)

Having said that, there are of course too much events and therefore using the midi-panic button was necessary.

Therefore, multi-ports for incoming info surely would make sense, if I understand correctly.

Adding to that scenario, for having an external midi controller transmitting on any channel other than 'All', the same problem would surface under such circumstances  like midi-learning a parameter and then receiving on several instruments on different channels.

Glad to hear about midi-out, if you considered multiple input ports too, that would be fantastic ...

Thanx again, all the best,

crs

CK are you confusing "comments" with "replies"? It is a bit confusing I guess.
You can start a new topic or question: those you can edit.
You can reply to a topic or question: you can ( should be able to ) edit your reply
OR you can comment on a reply. For some reason the silly software has no option to edit the comment.

There's about a million options in this forum addon, none of them are very well documented! So I'm stabbing around in the dark most of the time, I've now turned off ALL the email options, I think the only way it will send emails out now is if you explicitly subscribe.
